You may remember the first Splash Damage game Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory, which appeared in 2003. It set the Americans against the Germans by allowing up to 32 players to complete objectives while trying to shoot each other. Almost 20 years later, it’s finally available on Steam.

The developer is also famous for making other games like Halo and Gears of War. While Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory has been available on PC for many years, this is the first instance of its arrival on Steam. It begs the question: why this sudden move to the gaming platform after such a long time?

The answer lies with the Bethesda Launcher for PC. After we invested so much time enjoying the games the publisher had on offer using this platform, its existence has sadly come to an end. If you try to run the shortcut from your desktop, you see a message that tells you the program failed to run.

Bethesda announced last year that it would start moving titles over and eventually close the launcher. We saw our Fallout 4, Fallout 76, and Skyrim games migrate over to Steam, praying we wouldn’t lose our saved files. Fortunately, it was easy to direct the Steam platform to where the game folders were.

Fortunately, The Elder Scrolls Online already launched from Steam, so no worries there. A few other Bethesda titles are also available for free on the gaming platform, such as The Elder Scrolls Arena and Daggerfall. Fortunately, Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory is also free, so time to get downloading and start shooting!

I'm a published author of horror and fantasy novels, while I also dabble in game and movie scriptwriting.
